LEWAS (Lake Erie Western Alliance for
Sustainability)
LEWAS is made up of representatives from education, business,
government and the general public. We have come together as an alliance
to address our growing concerns about climate change and to come up with
ideas about how our community can respond to the challenges associated
with sustainability within the western Lake Erie region. We know that
there are a lot of organizations and individuals in our community who
share our concerns and have been working hard to address these issues
for a long time. We support and respect all of those efforts and invite
those organizations and individuals to join with us so that we can
achieve more by working together.
The mission of LEWAS is to promote environmental, economic, & social
sustainability within our Western Lake Erie Region through education,
outreach,
and networking.
- LEWAS
will be proactively inclusive of the entire community
including our youth.
- LEWAS
will create regional awareness of the desirable attributes
of green and sustainable buildings and communities.
- LEWAS
will promote the development and implementation of policies
and strategies that encourage local businesses, government, and
residents to act in sustainable ways.
- LEWAS
will educate and enlist local businesses to embrace the
opportunity to access new markets through green & sustainable
innovation.
2010 Vision
The Western Lake Erie Region will be recognized as the community that
transformed the challenge of climate change into an opportunity for
innovation
and sustainable growth resulting in an environmentally responsible, healthy,
and
prosperous community for all of our citizens and businesses.
