Title

Local Group Pushes Elected Officials to Support Green Jobs

Body

Toledoans United for Social Action (TUSA) held their Nehemiah Action Meeting last night and over 1,100 people turned out to Friendship Baptist Church to call on elected officials to support Green Jobs, fight vacant housing, and develop consistent research based school discipline measures.

Lucas County Commissioners Tina Skeldon Wozniak (LEWAS Board Member) and Ben Konop both committed to extend funding of the county’s green jobs coordinator position (LEWAS Vice President Brian Kaiser) for an additional year and to dedicate $1 million of the Workforce Investment Act funding on green jobs training.

Toledo City Council members Joe McNamara, Michael Ashford, Lindsay Webb, and Phil Copeland committed to support an ordinance that will give $100,000 to the Green Jobs Partnership training program.
